ADL Hails Historic Jerusalem U.S.-Israel Strategic Partnership Joint Declaration

Jerusalem, Israel, July 14, 2022... ADL (The Anti-Defamation League) today hailed the historic signing of the Jerusalem Declaration by President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid. This statement between the close allies reaffirms the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel, including a shared commitment to democracy and rule of law, and reiterates the U.S. bedrock support for Israel's security.
ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, who is currently in Israel, issued the following statement:
"Today's signing of the Jerusalem Declaration is a historic affirmation of the truly special and stalwart relationship between the United States and the Jewish State of Israel.
In the Declaration, the U.S. makes clear its unwavering support for Israel's security—including a pledge to prevent Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon and to bolster Israel’s qualitative military edge. The agreement stands strong against threats to Israel with an explicit commitment to combat the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign and other efforts to delegitimize and isolate Israel on the global stage. The U.S. and Israel further strongly committed to countering ‘all manifestations’ of antisemitism.
On the diplomatic front, ADL welcomes the many important advances listed, including the deepening and broadening of the Abraham Accords, the U.S. and Israel engagement on the I2U2 initiative, as well as a commitment toward improving the Palestinian economy and quality of life.
ADL greatly appreciates that President Biden has used his visit to Israel—both through words and actions—to express that the deep connection between the U.S. and Israel is values-based, enduring, vibrant, and bipartisan."
