Veterinarian at Lyndhurst Animal Clinic
As a veterinarian in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Leon Mendlowitz has a passion to fight for those who cannot always speak for themselves. Leon began his journey with ADL in 2016, participating in the Glass Leadership Institute and continued as Glass Co-Chair the following year. Leon has served as president of the Cleveland Academy of Veterinary Medicine as well as being a long time member of the University Heights Symphonic Band, playing alto saxophone. Leon's commitment to fighting injustice especially towards the Jewish community began while he held positions on the board of Hillel at the University of Missouri-Columbia. As a member of the GLI Alumni Advisory Board, Leon plans to provide strategic direction to engage the alumni of the Cleveland region and is focused on increasing their scope, reach and measurable impact. Leon enjoys building Star Wars Legos with his son and is married to Cantor David Malecki.
What are you most looking forward to as a new member of the GLI AAB?
I'm excited to be networking with other GLI alumni across the country and sharing our ideas about local engagement.
What do you hope the board (or you as a member of the board) will accomplish and/or help solve within this year?
While recognizing each region's unique needs and allowing for autonomy, the resources of this board and national ADL should prove invaluable to engaging alumni as one of its best assets.
