Awareness to Action: Challenging Antisemitism Course

Welcome to Awareness to Action®!

This course introduces you to core concepts in Jewish identity and antisemitism, emphasizing key skills for acting as an ally and advocate. It is made up of four mini-lessons, which each take less than 30 minutes to complete.

ADL Education's Awareness to Action course lesson 1: Exploring Jewish Identity

Start by exploring Jewish identity and learning about the many ways to be Jewish. As you engage with diverse examples and stories from Jewish teens, you begin learning how to challenge stereotypes and biased assumptions. 

Learning Objectives

In this lesson, you will:

  • Explore the concept of identity.
  • Reflect on your own identity.
  • Learn about Jewish identity.
  • Explore how our identity can influence our lives and experiences.
ADL Education's Awareness to Action course lesson 2: Recognizing Antisemitism

Build your ability to recognize antisemitism by examining common stereotypes and myths about Jewish people. By close-reading images and text, you learn to identify both obvious and subtle examples of antisemitism.

Learning Objectives

In this lesson, you will:

  • Reflect on the groups to which you belong.
  • Explore examples of stereotypes and myths assigned to Jewish people.
  • Recognize and analyze language and images that communicate antisemitic stereotypes and myth.
ADL Education's Awareness to Action course lesson 3: Challenging Antisemitism

Explore how antisemitism impacts Jewish people and society as a whole. Build skills to name antisemitism when you see it and act as an ally to those impacted.

Learning Objectives

In this lesson, you will:

  • Reflect on how myths motivate people to think and act in certain ways.
  • Analyze antisemitic myths in history and the present day.
  • Explore strategies for challenging antisemitic myths.
ADL Education's Awareness to Action course lesson 4: Championing Justice

Work to champion justice and create a world without antisemitism and other forms of hate. Explore how allyship can create healing and new possibility even in the face of antisemitism and injustice.

Learning Objectives

In this lesson, you will:

  • Learn about the Pyramid of Hate.
  • Reflect on allyship opportunities and ways to interrupt antisemitism.
  • Explore ways to support the Jewish community.
