Over 100 million people in the U.S. play online games*, and there are over 3 billion people who play video games broadly worldwide. Online games are communities where people connect and share ideas with people around the world. They are also communities where rampant antisemitism and hate proliferate.

ADL leads the fight against antisemitism and hate, working to create safer spaces both online and offline. Our work goes beyond research – we work with lawmakers and gaming companies to hold them accountable for creating and enforcing policies that ensure every player can participate in gameplay free from hate and harassment.

Join ADL in transforming online gaming – from online games to gaming platforms to gaming adjacent social media – into spaces where everyone feels safe, respected and welcome.

ADL Impact

November 2024

Twitch updated its policies to address the use of “Zionist” as a slur or a proxy for Jewish people. This update followed rising concerns about antisemitism on the platform and engagement between Twitch leadership and ADL Center for Technology and Society, marking an important step toward creating a safer, more inclusive online community.

April 2025

ADL Center on Extremism exposed a disturbing subculture on Roblox glorifying mass violence. The report revealed a group called Active Shooter Studios (A.S.S.), which created maps simulating real-world mass shootings—including Columbine, Uvalde and Parkland. Following the report and direct outreach, Roblox, TikTok and Discord took action to remove related content and communities.
