Court proceedings have indicated that Arizona resident Mahin Khan, arrested on July 1 for allegedly plotting to bomb a DMV on behalf of ISIS and the Pakistani Taliban, had considered directing his attack against a local Jewish Community Center (JCC) before choosing the DMV as his final target. His planning, as well as anti-Semitic statements he made, serve as a critical reminder of the nexus between anti-Semitism and Islamic extremism.
Khan had allegedly…
by: Oren Segal July 14, 2016 The leaders of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP), the largest organized anti-Semitic and racist Black militant group in America, will be in Cleveland July 14-17 ahead of the Republican convention, where they will likely inflame the already tense situation following the fatal shootings of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota and the killing of five police officers in Dallas. …
July 14, 2016 Most police enter the profession with the best reasons: They want to protect people who can’t protect themselves, give back to their communities and secure justice. To help law enforcement professionals stay true to their core values, ADL and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) created a powerful program, Law Enforcement and Society (LEAS), in 1999. LEAS spurs law enforcement professionals today to reflect on their mission.
The program traces the changing role of…
by: Marilyn Mayo June 16, 2016 In the wake of the brutal terrorist attack by Omar Mateen that killed 49 members of the LGBT community and wounded 53 others at a gay nightclub in Orlando, communities held vigils across the country to express solidarity with the victims. In marked contrast to the love and support shown by people around the world, haters voiced anti-Muslim and anti-LGBT sentiment and promoted anti-Semitic conspiracy theories in the aftermath of the event.
Not surprisingly,…

The 15th issue of Inspire, Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP)’s English language magazine, released on May 14, provides readers with instructions for murdering “the intelligentsia, economic and influential personalities of America.” Such attacks, claims the magazine, are “easy options that do not require huge efforts or man power, but the result is parallel to the big operations or…
By Jonathan Greenblatt CEO of the Anti-Defamation League As the still fairly new CEO of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), I’ve been on the job less than one year. I’m frequently asked about our current position on historical League decisions. One of those crucial questions is where ADL stands with regards to recognition of the Armenian Genocide. My family was directly impacted by the Holocaust. Given that profoundly personal experience, I appreciate the pain of those who…
New York, NY, May 5, 2016 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today welcomed a statement by Donald Trump that he “totally disavows” conspiratorial anti-Semitic remarks made by David Duke suggesting that “Jewish supremacists” were attempting to undermine his bid for the White House. In a statement shared with various media outlets Thursday, Mr. Trump added: “Anti-Semitism has no place in our society, which needs to be united, not divided.”
“We…
by: Marilyn Mayo May 05, 2016 On his radio show yesterday, white supremacist David Duke celebrated Donald Trump’s victory in Indiana, which made him the presumptive Republican nominee for president. Duke also used the show as yet another opportunity to promote his virulent brand of anti-Semitism, blaming Jewish “neo-cons” for trying to destroy Trump’s candidacy and for allegedly controlling the country.
Duke asserted that “Jewish extremists have made a terribly…

James Gonzalo Medina, a 40-year-old resident of Hollywood, Florida, was arrested on May 2, 2016, for allegedly plotting to use an explosive device in a Florida synagogue on Passover. Court documents indicate that he wanted to leave a notice with the bomb attributing the attack to ISIS.
Violent expressions of anti-Semitism, including encouragement of attacks against Jews and Jewish or Israeli institutions, have been at the core of propaganda distributed by Al…

by: Oren Segal March 31, 2016 The Nation of Islam (NOI) has published a series of interviews with anti-Semitic 9/11 conspiracy theorists to support Farrakhan’s repeated claim that Jews are to blame for the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The NOI’s Research Group published the hateful interviews on its website in response to ADL’s article in the Huffington Post Reconciliation Cannot Mean Turning a Blind Eye to Farrakhan’s Anti-Semitism, an answer to Russell Simmons’ The…
March 28, 2016 Updated: July 05, 2017 Andrew Auernheimer (aka Weev) is doing his best to escalate the increasingly fraught battle between CNN and the anonymous Reddit poster who created a video clip of President Trump wrestling "CNN" to the ground. Auernheimer threatened CNN on the Daily Stormer, the neo-Nazi website, giving the network one week to fulfill a range of demands, including firing everyone involved in the Reddit story, creating a college scholarship for the Reddit poster, and…
by: Marilyn Mayo March 25, 2016 Update — 3/28/16: Hacker Andrew Auernheimer has claimed credit for exploiting network printers at these colleges to print these flyers. More information available here.
On Thursday, March 24, a number of campuses around the country received an anti-Semitic flyer that blamed Jews for destroying the country “through mass immigration and degeneracy.” The flyer asks people to “join us in the struggle for global…
by: Jonathan A. Greenblatt | March 16, 2016 New York Daily News On many occasions in recent years, the Anti-Defamation League I lead has spoken out as politicians, celebrities and other public figures tried making a point about a controversial subject by invoking the Holocaust. The analogy has shown up inappropriately in countless discussions of public policy because it is the most available historical event illustrating right versus wrong.
Abortion? It was said to be an “ongoing…
by: Oren Segal February 29, 2016 Nation of Islam (NOI) leader Louis Farrakhan made anti-Semitic accusations of Jewish governmental control while praising presidential candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 Saviours’ Day sermon at the NOI’s Mosque Maryam in Chicago on February 28.
While Part 1 of Farrakhan’s 2016 Saviours’ Day sermon last week at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena largely avoided the topic of Jews, in Part 2 of his sermon…
by: Jonathan A. Greenblatt | February 28, 2016 CNN.com Donald Trump claimed he is not familiar with David Duke. It is hard to believe, but we will choose to take him at his word and use this opportunity to explain in detail to him -- and indeed all candidates -- who David Duke really is.
It seems that Trump did have a change of heart after a public outcry over his comments about not knowing who Duke was. Trump later tweeted his disavowal of Duke. Still, we believe Trump and the…

White supremacists have been enthusiastic supporters of Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy for president in June 2015 with bigoted remarks about Mexican immigrants. Subsequent remarks from Trump about banning Muslim immigration to the U.S served to solidify that support. White supremacists believe that Trump is voicing their own xenophobic and bigoted views toward immigrants and non-whites.
David Duke, a racist and anti…
by: Oren Segal February 23, 2016 Holocaust denier Bradley Smith, the founder of the Committee for Open Debate on the Holocaust (CODOH), died on February 18, 2016, his 86th birthday. Smith’s acolytes and fellow Holocaust deniers rushed to eulogize him in the days following his death.
