“We have seen how online platforms have facilitated the spread of hate and extremism, but we also know they can play an important role in connecting people for good,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO. “Dave’s experience in the tech industry will be invaluable in furthering our groundbreaking work fighting the alarming rise of online hate and harassment.”

Sifry’s technology background also includes web engineering, mobile apps, enterprise software, digital health and transportation. He has participated in the founding and advisory boards of several companies. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the son of a Holocaust survivor.

“In the tech industry, everyone knows ADL has been leading the charge against cyberhate, working effectively with all of the leading technology platforms, as well as government, academia, and law enforcement,” said Sifry. “I’m thrilled to build on this important work, using what I’ve learned from my decades in this space to address today’s most pressing challenges online.”

Building on ADL’s century of experience building a world without hate, the Center for Technology and Society (CTS) serves as a resource to tech platforms and develops proactive solutions to fight hate both online and offline. CTS works at the intersection of technology and civil rights through education, research and advocacy.
