ADL Asks YouTube to Take Down Neo-Nazi Video Inciting Violence

New York, NY, February 27, 2018 … Following is a statement from Anti-Defamation League (ADL) CEO Jonathan Greenblatt in response to news that YouTube would not take down anti-Semitic videos from the neo-Nazi group Atomwaffen Division that call for gassing Jews and a “race war”:

Just today we released a report showing a 60% increase in anti-Semitic incidents over the past year, and we know this type of material only contributes to that. These videos are not only disgusting racist content that has no place in our society, but they incite hatred against one religious group – in this case, Jews – therefore violating YouTube’s own Community Guidelines. YouTube should take them down immediately.

ADL is the world’s leading anti-hate organization. Founded in 1913 in response to an escalating climate of anti-Semitism and bigotry, its timeless mission is to protect the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment for all. Today, ADL continues to fight all forms of hate with the same vigor and passion. A global leader in exposing extremism, delivering anti-bias education, and fighting hate online, ADL is the first call when acts of anti-Semitism occur. ADL’s ultimate goal is a world in which no group or individual suffers from bias, discrimination or hate.
