Sydney, Australia, December 8, 2025 ... Jewish leaders from the world's seven largest diaspora communities concluded the first J7 Task Force Summit in Australia, at a time of unprecedentedly high levels of antisemitism in Australia and around the world. The J7 (Large Communities' Task Force Against Antisemitism) brings together the leadership of representative Jewish organizations from Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States to coordinate responses to rising anti‑Jewish hate.
J7 closing statement:
“We came from around the world to show our solidarity with the Australian Jewish community and make clear that we are one Jewish family. The antisemitism that targeted a synagogue in a devastating arson attack in Melbourne and has led to record levels of incidents in Australia, has had a deadly impact in Manchester, Boulder, Washington, and beyond.
We reiterate our call on our governments to take all necessary steps to fight antisemitism and ensure the security of the Jewish community. We join our Australian partner, the ECAJ, in calling on the government of Australia to accept and implement the plan to combat antisemitism formulated by its Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism, Jillian Segal, AO.”
While in Australia, the J7 met with parliamentarians and government officials, Jewish community leaders, Jewish students, and marked the first anniversary of the fire-bombing of the Adass Israel synagogue in Melbourne orchestrated by the Iranian regime. The group also held extensive discussions on challenges confronting our communities, along with sharing best practices that could be emulated by our partner communities.
About the J7 Task Force
The J7, the Large Communities’ Task Force Against Antisemitism. was formed in response to increasing rates of antisemitism around the world and comprises major Jewish organizations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Argentina and Australia. In addition to top-level consultations, the J7 leads working groups comprised of subject matter experts from each community to develop strategies and action plans within areas such as policy and advocacy, tech policy, security, extremism and education against antisemitism.
